Kenneth (Kenny) Donald Rennells

Kenneth (Kenny) Donald Rennells, 89, Of Unionville, Missouri, passed away on Friday March 26, 2021, at the Putnam County Care Center.

Kenny Rennells was born in Putnam County, MO, on June 29th, 1931, the son of Loran Francis Rennells and Isa May (Hill) Rennells. Kenny survived polio as a child and later in high school he and some of his friends chose to leave school and work road construction the spring of his senior year. He married Leota Johnson in 1955 and they raised their son Stephen D. Rennells in Putnam County, Missouri. Kenny worked at Quigley Body Shop and Davis Chevrolet until later opening his own body shop. He later moved to Lovilia, Iowa, to be the Director of Procurement for Star Coal.

Kenny moved back to Unionville, Missouri, and was united in marriage to Mary Clark in 1985. Kenny and Mary were members of the First Baptist Church and together they enjoyed golfing at the Unionville County Club and spending time with family and friends. Kenny cherished traditions, such as, the “Thanksgiving Morning Breakfast,” that he and Mary hosted for many years for his family.

In his spare time, Kenny enjoyed wood working, storytelling, studying the Rennells/Hills genealogy and being around his Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. He loved to be with family and was always up for a reunion or a gathering of friends. Kenny was always a helping hand with large community gatherings. From hog roasts to the enormous BBQ grill that he built, there were very few community events with which he was not involved. Kenny supported area youth by coaching baseball, as well as driving the school bus to sporting events and senior trips to Southern Missouri.

In addition to his parents, Kenny was preceded in death by all nine of his siblings: Virginia (Rennells) Wilson, James Rennells, Leo Rennells, Evelyn Rennells, Genevieve (Rennells) Parsons, Lloyd Rennells, Shirley (Rennells) Riley and Loran F. Rennells, Jr.

Kenny is survived by his wife Mary Rennells and his 5 children, Steve (Teresa) Rennells, Jerrad Clark, Jeff (Melanie) Clark, Tena Clark and Telesa (Wendel) Durham. In addition, He is survived by 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

There will be a graveside service on April 1st at 11:30 at the Unionville Cemetery, where family and friends can pay their respects. There will also be a celebration of life at the Unionville Country Club from 1:00 to 4:00 that afternoon where lunch will be provided. Arrangements are under the direction of the Playle & Collins Funeral Home in Unionville, MO.
