BOSTON 4 – N.Y. Rangers 0… Goalie Jaroslav Halak stopped all 28 shots in his second shutout of the season and the Bruins breezed past the Rangers. David Krejci scored his first goal of the season and Brad Marchand had two assists.

Pittsburgh 5 – BUFFALO 2… The Penguins skated past the Sabres to win their fourth in a row. Evgeni Malkin had a goal and an assist.

N.Y. ISLANDERS 5 – New Jersey 3… The Islanders made it seven straight wins by fighting off the Devils. Matt Martin and Adam Pelech scored first-period goals. Ryan Pulock assisted on two goals.

Washington 5 – PHILADELPHIA 3… Alex Ovechkin netted his 715th career goal to highlight the Capitals’ defeat of the Flyers. Nic Dowd sealed the victory with an 185-foot empty-netter.

CAROLINA 5 – Nashville 1… Morgan Geekie netted a pair of goals in leading the Hurricanes past the Predators. Jake Bean had two assists. James Reimer made 32 saves at goal.

Florida 5 – COLUMBUS 4 (OT)… The Panthers erased a three-goal third-period deficit and outlasted the Blue Jackets. Frank Vetrano scored the game-winner at 2:48 of overtime. Aleksander Barkov’s power-play goal tied the game with 5:34 left in regulation.

TORONTO 4 – Winnipeg 3 (OT)… Auston Matthews scored his NHL-leading 21st goal of the season 59 seconds into overtime to send the Maple Leafs past the Jets. Mitchell Marner had a goal and an assist.

DETROIT 6 – Tampa Bay 4… Anthony Mantha scored a goal and assisted on two others to lead the Red Wings past the Lightning. Filip Zadina had two assists.

Chicago 4 – DALLAS 2… The Blackhawks scored all four goals in their first eight shots and doubled up on the Stars. Carl Soderberg and Alex DeBrincat scored scored off power-plays during a three-goal second period.

CALGARY 2 – Montreal 1… Josh Leivo found the net twice in the second period and the Flames held on to edge the Canadiens. Derek Ryan assisted on both goals. Goalie Jacob Markstrom made 18 stops.
