SEC Honors For Mizzou

COLUMBIA, Mo. — For the first time in seven years, a couple of Missouri teammates earned spots on the men’s basketball All-Southeastern Conference team. As voted by the league coaches, senior guard Dru Smith is MU’s first first-team All-SEC choice since Kassius Robertson in 2018. Senior center Jeremiah Tilmon earned second-team honors.

The only other time MU produced multiple All-SEC choices came in 2014, when Jabari Brown was a first-team selection and Jordan Clarkson earned second-team honors. Smith is just the fourth MU player voted a first-team choice since Mizzou joined the SEC,

Both Smith and Tilmon were named to the Associated Press’ All-SEC second team as voted by a panel of reporters who cover the league.

Smith, MU’s team leader in points, assists, steals and 3-point shooting percentage heading into the postseason, also led the SEC in steals for the second straight season and was named to the All-SEC defensive team. He’s the first Mizzou player to earn that last honor.

Smith leads Mizzou (15-8) with 14.1 points per game, 3.9 assists and 2.0 steals while shooting a team-best 38.5% from 3-point range. He was the league’s only player named SEC player of the week three times this season.
