Barbara Sue Leslie

Barbara Sue Leslie, 75, 0f Kirksville and formerly of Green City, Missouri, died Friday morning, January 22, 2021 at the University Medical Center in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Elinore (McClaren) Bonnett, she was born February 16, 1945 in Milan. On December 24, 1966 she was united in marriage to John Robert Leslie and he preceded her in death on February 6, 2015. Also preceding her were her parents; three grandchildren, Benjamin John Leslie, Natasha Leslie, and Britany Leslie; a brother Gerald Bonnett; and her twin sister, Nancy Rhimes.

Barbara is survived by two sons, John Benjamin Leslie of Milan and Frank Leslie Sr. of Green City; four grandchildren Frank (Cecelia) Leslie, Jr., Michael Robert (Ashley) Leslie, Colby James Leslie, and John Benjamin (December) Leslie; six great grandchildren, Mason Bartlett, Devin Leslie, Layden Leslie, Rylan Leslie, Bentley Leslie, and Timber Leslie; two daughters-in-law, Laurie Leslie of Green City and Dena Leslie of Green Castle; one brother, David (Alice) Bonnet of St. Joseph, Missouri; and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara grew up in Buchanan County near Stewartsville, Missouri and graduated from Stewartsville High School. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse and all her adult life worked in hospitals and nursing homes in Maysville and Brookfield and for many years was a charge nurse at Leewood Manor in Milan. Barbara loved to cook and take care of anyone that needed her especially her children and grandchildren. While she was a patient at Milan Health Care, she served as president of the resident’s association and taught cooking classes there.

Friends may call after 12:00 P.M., Tuesday, 26, 2021 at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. A private burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Milan on Wednesday, January 27, 2021.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the family.
