Tigers Advance To Tournament Championship Game

The Kirksville Tigers won a tough battle over Centralia 62-54 in the Macon Tournament semifinals Thursday. The Panthers led by 5 at the end of the first quarter 17-12, and led by on at halftime 26-25. Midway through the third, Centralia got cold from the field and the Tigers picked up some big rebounds, got fouled and cashed in at the free throw line. Kirksville made 8 out of 12 from the stripe in the fourth quarter. The margin of victory was eight points, so very important free throws indeed. Isaac Danielson five out of six at the line in the fourth, 7 out of 8 for the game, the team shot 18u out of 23 for the night. Danielson finished with 21 points to lead all scorers, Keaton Anderson scored 14, Noah Copeland had 11. KHS gets to 10-1 on the year and moves to Saturday’s tournament championship against arch rival Moberly. Fifth seed Moberly outlasted top seed Mexico 77-71 in the other semifinal. So it’s a day/night KHS vs. Moberly doubleheader Saturday. The girls play for 5th place at 1:00, the boys at 7:00. Hear both games on KIRX.
