Mizzou Climbs To 3-0 With Win Over Wichita State

Mizzou Men’s Basketball grinded out an impressive road victory on Sunday, beating Wichita State, 72-62, on Sunday afternoon. The Tigers improved to 3-0 to start a campaign for the first time since 2013-14.

Senior guard Mark Smith led all scorers with 19 points on 6-of-11 shooting. Mizzou shot 48 percent from the field, finished with 38 points in the paint and dished 15 assists. The Tigers smothered Wichita State defensively, holding the Shockers to 33 percent shooting from the floor and 28 percent shooting from beyond the arc. Wichita State managed just six fastbreak points.

Mizzou improved to 4-0 all-time vs. Wichita State. After leading for 38:37 on Sunday, Mizzou has been tied or trailing its opponents for just 1:57 of total game clock through three contests.

  • Mark Smith added six rebounds in 33 minutes.  Dru Smith packed the stat sheet again, finishing with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go along with four assists, three boards and two steals. Dru is averaging an SEC-best three steals this season.
  • Sophomore Kobe Brown scored 14 points and snagged a team-high seven rebounds.

Mizzou returns home to face the Liberty Flames (4-2) on Wednesday night at Mizzou Arena. Tip is set for 7:15 p.m. on 93.7 KTUF.
