Rick Rhoads

Rick Dale Rhoads, 58, of Unionville, Missouri passed away at the Putnam County Memorial Hospital on November 6th, 2020.

Rick Rhoads was born in Unionville, MO on September 11th, 1962, to Dale and Alma (Montgomery) Rhoads. After graduation Rick attended welding school to receive his certification. Rick joined the Brotherhood-Boilermakers and worked with them as a young man in Sioux City, IA. Later, Rick worked for Shivvers in Corydon, IA, for 15 years. All throughout his life Rick continued to weld, even making requested pieces of art for family. He liked to tinker with hit and miss engines, David Bradley tractors, and do other miscellaneous restoration projects. Rick even restored a 3020 tractor with his father. Rick also liked to go fishing; not just in Putnam County, but Missouri Rivers where he could take in some spoonbill. Other hobbies Rick enjoyed were cutting wood, restoring vintage gasoline engines, spending time in the outdoors, caring for his cattle and enjoyed spending time with his dog, Molley, who was also taken by cancer not long ago. Rick’s battle with cancer took him all too early and he will be missed.

Rick Rhoads is survived by his mother, Alma Rhoads of the home; son, Tyson Rhoads and friend, Nicole and children Lane and Levi of Chariton, IA; granddaughters, Jazmyne and Bryli Rhoads; and sister, Pam Hines and husband Melvin of Unionville, MO. Rick is also survived by a niece, Bridget Service and a nephew, Chris Hines along with many cousins.

Rick was preceded in death by his father, Dale Rhoads; grandparents, Floyd and Helen Montgomery and Lee and Gatha Rhoads; uncle, John Montgomery; and cousins, Damon Clark and Scott Montgomery.

Rick’s Funeral was held at the Playle & Collins Chapel on November 9th, 2020 at 11:30 am and his visitation began one hour prior to his service. Internment followed at the Unionville Cemetery.
