John Michael Sayre

John Michael Sayre (JM), 52 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

John Michael was born May 28, 1968 in Richmond, Missouri to John Terry and Janet Sue (Smith) Sayre.

John Michael is survived by his parents; two sisters, Susan Proffitt and husband Chris of Milan, Missouri, and Jaime Garrison and husband Damon of New Bloomfield, Missouri; two nephews, Vance Proffitt and wife Ashley of Ravenwood, Missouri, and Grant Garrison of New Bloomfield, Missouri; two nieces, Jayce Carbajal Proffitt of Milan, Missouri, and Erin Garrison of New Bloomfield, Missouri; two great-nephews and one great-niece, Graeson Proffitt, Mallix Carbajal Proffitt, and Camilla Carbajal Proffitt, all of Milan, Missouri, and several aunts, uncles and cousins.

John Michael was preceded in death by: his paternal and maternal grandparents, Glen and Vera Sayre and Clint and Carol Smith; And several Aunt’s and Uncle’s.

John Michael graduated from Milan C-2 High School with the Class of 1986.

John Michael’s passion in life was buying and selling vehicles to many family members and friends over the years. He also operated the Cherokee Bowling Alley for many years, Milan License Office, Civilian Office Administrator for the ROTC Department at Truman State University, Insurance Claims Adjuster for Don Stein Buick, Inc. in Overland Park, KS. John spent the last several years as The Director of Sullivan County Library and remained involved in the family business Sayre & Associates.

John Michael will forever be remembered for his larger than life, witty, one of a kind sense of humor. His loyalty and dedication to his family and friends was endless. He loved to spend time with friends playing pool and there was nothing more important to him than his family. He had a great love for animals especially his Toy Fox Terrier Sis, Min Pin’s, Paris and Grace and cats, Furball and Pacey.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Monday, October 12, 2020 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Schoene Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan, Missouri.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Sullivan County Senior Center.
