Jenny Lind Compton

Jenny Lind Compton peacefully passed from this life into eternal life on the morning of Tuesday, October 6, 2020 as a result of recent illness.

Jenny Lind was born in Kirksville, Missouri on November 22, 1945 to her parents, Logan E. Compton and Ada E. Quigley Compton. She grew up with her 3 brothers Jack Wayne, James Logan and Jerry Dale, on their family farm in Milan, Missouri.

Jenny Lind attended school in Milan, Missouri and graduated from Milan high school in 1963. She then attended Northeast Missouri State University where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree and then her Master’s Degree in Political Science. Jenny Lind then taught public school at Browning, Missouri and later went on to attend law school at the University of Missouri.

Jenny Lind lived with her mother for many years and they lovingly took care of each other until her mother’s death in 1989. Jenny Lind then moved to the Leewood assisted Living Center until she faced a life threatening injury when hit by a car in 1992. Jenny Lind has resided at Milan Healthcare for over 30 years. She has battled many health issues throughout her life and overcome so much over the years, however this was her last battle to face on this earth, as it was her time to meet her maker. Witnessing her faith and strength has been inspiring to so many of those who knew and loved her. She cherished life and faced death without fear.
Although we were unable to visit Jenny Lind for many months prior to her death, she was not alone. Our family is so thankful for those who cared for and loved Jenny Lind at Milan Healthcare. Jenny Lind considered you all friends and loved you like her own family. It is comforting to know Jenny Lind had not only professional and quality caregivers, but she also had loving and compassionate people at her bedside who cared about her feelings and needs even as she departed this world.

We will all miss Jenny Lind’s unique personality. She always had a joke and somehow knew just what to say to catch you off guard and get a laugh. She never knew a stranger and knew how to make everyone feel comfortable in the moment. She personified love and life to each person she met. Nobody ever felt left out or felt unimportant in Jenny Lind’s presence. Her faith in the Lord has never been in doubt. Her entire life centered around God, faith, salvation and love one another.

Jenny Lind was preceded in death by her parents, Logan E. and Ada E. Compton; brother Jerry Dale Compton; nephew Tony West; nephew Gregory S. Compton and sister-in-law Christl “Christa” Compton.

She is survived by brothers Jack W. Compton, Milan, MO; James L. Compton and wife Debbie, Baxter Springs, KS; Nephews Rick, Tony, Matt and Nieces Joanna, Jenise, Cori, Cara, Taylor, Jamee, Camryn and Morgan; So many more including Great Nieces and Nephews as well as many other loving family members and friends.

Family will receive friends at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan on Saturday afternoon, 10/10/2020 from 2-4 pm. Graveside funeral service to begin at 2:00 pm on Sunday, 10/11/2020 at Elmwood Cemetery.
