Linda Kaylene Young

Linda Kaylene Young, 71 years old, formerly of Milan, Missouri, then moved to Kirksville, Missouri for 13 years before becoming a resident of Columbia Manor in Columbia, Missouri, passed away Sunday, October 4, 2020 in Columbia Manor.

Linda was born January 27, 1949 at Laughlin Hospital in Kirksville, Missouri to John Algie Fanning and Mary Ellen (Watson) Fanning. On June 18, 1966, Linda married Danny Reed and to this union one son was born, Tim Reed on February 6, 1970. On December 9, 1986 she married Danny Young, who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death: Her father and mother; two sisters, Mary Lorene Hale and Alta Darlene Coffey.

She was survived by: Her son, Tim Reed (Kathy) of LaPlata, Missouri; a brother, John Fanning (Terry) of Lewistown, Illinois; grandson, John Reed (Sarah) of Milan; granddaughter, Desiree Reed (Bill Roberts) of Milan; five step granddaughters; one step grandson; great grandchildren, Hunter Reed, Waverly Roberts; ten step grandchildren; and Danny Reed of Kirksville who lovingly cared for her until her health failed and had to have 24-hour care.

Linda grew up in Milan going to Milan School and then attended high school in Browning. She worked at Brinkley Nursing Home for several years, and then Milan Health Care. Before retiring she did custodial work at Milan City Hall. Linda and her first husband, Danny were foster parents for several troubled teens. Linda was a member of Grace Bible Baptist Church in Green Castle. Linda loved getting her hair and nails done. She enjoyed playing cards, collecting angels, and crocheting doilies. She liked going fishing and riding motorcycles. She loved all her grandchildren and great grandchildren dearly. Her son Tim was her best friend and she loved him dearly. Tim would do anything for his mom and they have a bond that will never be broken. Linda was so happy to have a daughter in law-Kathy. She would always have a big smile when she would see her and Kathy spoiled her rotten every chance she could. Linda will be in our hearts forever. She is now in heaven with her heavenly father waiting until we all meet again.

A memorial service is 2:00 PM, Friday, October 9, 2020 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Oak Grove Cemetery, Southeast of Milan.
