Sam Tarr

Sam Tarr, 52, of Greentop, Missouri, passed away Friday, September 4, 2020 at his home under the care of Hospice and family by his side.

Born July 28, 1968 in Kirksville, Missouri, Sam was the son of Rusty and Pam (Sallade) Tarr. On July 28, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada, Sam was united in marriage to Lisa Hansen.

Sam is survived by his wife Lisa of the home; one son, Sawyer Tarr of Columbia, MO; his parents, Rusty and Pam Tarr of Greentop, MO; one brother and sister-in-law, Shawn and Kristal Tarr of Kirksville, MO; his grandmother, “Nanny” Faye Sallade of Kirksville, MO; three brothers-in-law, George (Becky) Hansen of LaPlata, MO, Nick VanHara of Seligman, MO, and Steve (Rhonda) VanHara of LaPlata, MO; sister-in-law, Tina VanHara of Kirksville, MO; aunt Tracy (Mark) Robinson of Platte City, MO, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glen Sallade and Sam and Dorothy Tarr, his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Don and Darlene Hansen, and his brother-in-law, Mike VanHara.

Sam was a graduate from Schuyler County High School with the Class of 1986. After graduating, Sam worked for Wal-Mart. He then was employed seventeen years for Ortech, and for the past thirteen years worked for Ameren Missouri.

Sam enjoyed golfing, hunting golf balls, and loved going to the river bottom every night to check the crops.

Sam was a member of the Greentop City Council, longtime member of Lancaster Country Club, member of IBEW-Local 2, and of the Masonic Greentop Lodge #635.

Graveside services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, 2020 at the Greentop Cemetery in Greentop, Missouri, with Pastor Sonny Smyser presiding.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO.

Pallbearers will be John March, Steve March, George Hansen, Jason Schmitter, Kevin Blackorby, and Mark Robinson.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in memory of Sam may be made to Schuyler County Cancer Relief Fund, Hospice of Northeast Missouri, or to the Lancaster Country Club (Golf Cart Path Fund) and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO, 63501.
