Roger Keith “Butch” Brummitt

Roger Keith “Butch” Brummitt, 73 years old, of Kirksville, Missouri, formerly of Pollock, Missouri passed away Friday, August 21, 2020 at his home surrounded by his four girls.

Butch was born February 19, 1947 in Pollock to Bobby and Avis (Camp) Brummitt. On November 7, 1970 he married Carolyn (Smith) Brummitt, she survives of the home. Also surviving: Three daughters, Michele Thurlo and husband Lane of Milan, Tammy Miller of Kirksville, Laura Harvey and husband Kerry of Kirksville; 6 grandchildren, Weston Thurlo, Adriana Thurlo, Lillian Miller, Michael Miller, Jaren Ingersoll, and Ryan Harvey; a sister, Rena Manley of Kansas City, Missouri; step-mother, Peggy Brummitt of Unionville, Missouri; step-sisters, Tori Shumake and husband Jim of Quincy, Illinois and Sisteen Stripling of Kansas City, Missouri; a brother-in-law, Hubert Staggs of Seymour, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by: His parents; 2 sisters, Teresa Staggs and Lily Brummitt; and a step-brother, Tad Allen.

Butch lived numerous places in his early years, but settled back in Pollock, graduating from Milan High School. He has worked as a milkman, a welder, and a mechanic, but most of his life he was a farmer and along with his wife, Carolyn, owned and operated Braco farm store in Milan for 32 years. After retiring they moved to Kirksville. Butch was an FFA Alumni, and was a 4-H Leader for many years. Over the years Butch worked and enjoyed many tractor pulls. He also loved repairing antique tractors.

Graveside services for Butch will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, August 27, 2020 at the Scobee Cemetery, west of Pollock. A visitation will be held 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday evening at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan.
