TORONTO 3 – Philadelphia 2… Lourdes Gurriel Jr. chopped a single over a drawn-in infield to score Teoscar Hernandez with the winning run in the bottom of the seventh and final inning as the Blue Jays took the doubleheader opener.

TORONTO 9 – Philadelphia 8… The Blue Jays erupted to score seven runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 7-2 deficit and held on to edge the Phillies and complete a sweep of the twinbill. Rowdy Tellez homered and delivered a go-ahead two-run single.

Tampa Bay 10 – N.Y. YANKEES 5… Mike Zunino belted a three-run homer during a five-run top of the sixth inning as the Rays finished off a sweep of the Yankees and moved into first place in the AL East. Yandy Diaz homered with a runner aboard.

CHI. WHITE SOX 9 – Detroit 0… Lucas Giolito (2-2) pitched three-hit ball over seven innings and struck out 13 as the White Sox walloped the Tigers to finish a four-game sweep. Tim Anderson and Eloy Jimenez homered. Jose Abreu went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs.

Houston 10 – COLORADO 8… The Astros mounted five-run rallies in the tops of the second and fifth innings in slugging their way past the Rockies for their eighth straight win. Abraham Toro-Hernandez struck the big blow with a three-run homer.

Cleveland 2 – PITTSBURGH 0… Shane Bieber (5-0) scattered six hits and fanned 11 over six innings and four relievers completed the Indians’ shutout of the Pirates.

MINNESOTA 7 – Milwaukee 1… Jose Berrios (2-3) limited the Brewers to one hit over six scoreless innings and got plenty of support in the Twins’ victory. Nelson Cruz homered with a runner aboard.

L.A. Dodgers 6 – SEATTLE 1… Clayton Kershaw (3-1) surrendered a run on four hits and struck out 11 over seven innings as the Dodgers cruised past the Mariners. Cody Bellinger singled in a run and homered.

Boston 7 – BALTIMORE 1… Red Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi (2-2) held the Orioles to a run on five hits over five innings. Xavier Bogaerts and Mitch Moreland went deep for Boston.

SAN DIEGO 8 – Texas 7 (10 innings)… Wil Myers scored an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th inning to send the Padres past the Rangers. Eric Hosmer’s bases-loaded homer in the fourth made San Diego the first team in major league history to hit grand slams in four straight games.

ST. LOUIS 5 – Cincinnati 4… Kolten Wong’s RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning capped a three-run rally that carried the Cardinals over the Reds. Yadier Molina knocked in three runs with a pair of singles.

OAKLAND 5 – Arizona 1… Matt Chapman homered twice and Matt Olson also went deep in the Athletics’ win over the Diamondbacks. Sean Manaea (1-2) gave up a run on five hits over 5-1/3 innings.

SAN FRANCISCO 10 – L.A. Angels 5… Wilmer Flores lined a two-run single and homered with a runner aboard to lead the Giants past the Angels. Brandon Crawford also went deep for San Francisco.

N.Y. Mets – MIAMI (ppd)… Last night’s Mets-Marlins game was postponed after two individuals in the Mets organization tested positive for coronavirus. The Mets-Yankees game scheduled for tonight also has been postponed.
