Ethel Saulsbury

Ethel Jeanette Saulsbury, 91 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Thursday, June 18, 2020 at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.

The daughter of William Clarence and Eva Pearl (Jones) Rood, she was born on August 18, 1928 in Kirksville, Missouri. Ethel was a graduate of the Lancaster High School. On December 5, 1947 in Kirksville, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Thomas Junior Saulsbury and to this union three children were born, Connie, Cheryl Lynn, and Robert.

Survivors include her daughter, Cheryl Lynn Smith of rural Queen City, Missouri; two grandchildren, Janelle Hill and husband, Joshua of Queen City, Missouri and Brian Smith and wife, Leslie of Kirksville, Missouri; four grandchildren, Tacey and Jace Hill of Queen City, Missouri, Dalton Smith and fiancé, Malissa Ellsworth of Kirksville, Missouri and Brenna Smith of Kirksville, Missouri; one sister, Betty Wilson of LaPlata, Missouri; nieces and nephews and many good friends.

Ethel is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas Junior Saulsbury on May 3, 2006; one son, Thomas Robert Saulsbury on March 1983, one daughter, Connie Jeanette Webster on March 1978; one grandson, Clinton Eric Webster on March 1978; one son-in-law, Gary Smith on September 16, 2016; one sister, Opal Overstreet and one brother, Grover Rood.

Ethel was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church of Lancaster, Missouri and the UMW. Ethel was a waitress for a number of years working for the Lancaster Café and Modernaire Café both in Lancaster, Missouri. In her spare time, Ethel enjoyed sewing, crocheting, embroidering, cooking, baking, gardening and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with H. R. Rogers, Pastor of the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri assisted by Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral services from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri. Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
