Virgil Veeder

Virgil V. Veeder passed away May 31, 2020 at Life Care Center in Brookfield. Virgil was born to Clarence and Rena (Newkirk) Veeder on July, 17, 1931 in Lincoln Nebraska. When Virgil was 15, he moved to Milan to make his home.

On August 24, 1952 he married Mary E. Whitacre. To this union two children were born, Monte and Cherie. Virgil farmed and drove lime and rock trucks for several years. He later worked at ConAgra Foods for 24 years. Virgil and Mary loved to square dance. They also showed horses for several years.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Marion (Bill) Daharsh, a brother Leo Veeder, a son Monte Veeder (2019), a son-in-law Butch Smith(2003) and a brother-in-law Mack Lee(2019). Virgil is survived by his wife Mary of the home, daughter Cherie Smith, a friend Troy Mason of Milan, grandkids, Angie (Marc) Curtis, Sarah (Jeremy) Nickell, Gingo Smith, Jericho Smith, Brandy (Perry) Barnes. Great grandkids, Tyler Curtis, Payton Curtis, Raylee Nickell, Greyson and Kylee Smith, Jaiven Smith and Trace Barnes. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and two sisters-in-law Leatrice Lee and Doris Veeder.

A graveside service for Virgil will be held 1:30 PM, Thursday, June 4, 2020 at the Shatto Cemetery, west of Milan. Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan is handling arrangements.
