Homer Wamsley (note change)

“Homer” Coy Ray Wamsley age 82 of Isabella, MO formerly of Knox County passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at the Gainesville Health Care Center in Gainesville, MO.

On August 31, 1937 he was born to Truman Lesley and Etha Thelma Beers Wamsley in Clarksville, MO.

Surviving are four children, Barbara Simpson of Novelty, MO, Tina Hoeltzel of Maramec, OK, Michael and Penny Wamsley of Isabella, MO and Rita and David Kriley of Kansas City, KS; one brother, Jesse and Libby Wamsley of Moberly, MO; two sisters, Betty Painter of the State of Florida and Thelma Wamsley of Hannibal, MO; nine grandchildren, Tosha and Frank Prior, Hope and Tyler Cleeton, Tyler and Mallory Wamsley, Kristina and John Ramsey, Brittany Robinson, Ashley Robinson, Casey and Justin Kidd, Bryson Hoeltzel and August Hoeltzel and six great-grandchildren, Nevaeh, Nivek, Dominic, Bianca, Kennedy and William.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lee and Raymond; two grandsons, Joshua Wamsley and Brandon Hoeltzel and two son-in-laws, Bruce Hoeltzel and Jerry Simpson.

Early in life Coy worked for Lee Davidson in farming and at the LaBelle Feed Store. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Lee Griffith March 3, 1956. They resided with relatives until they moved to a farm near Newark, MO. They raised their family in a three room house on the farm until 1969 when a new home was built. Coy was engaged in farming with cattle and hogs until 1984.

He then moved to Moberly, MO where he was a used car salesman. Coy owner and operated his own business; Coy’s Used Auto for thirty years.

Coy was a member of the Cowboy Church at Clark, MO where he was baptized. He was also a member of the saddle club at Steffenville, MO for many years. Homer also enjoy hunting; he had a great sense of humor with endless jokes; a heart of gold and a deep amount of hospitality and love for others. Family and friends were a very important part of life for Homer.

Private family graveside service will be held at noon, 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Mt. Salem Church, north of Plevna, MO. Pastor Tresia Griffith will officiate the service. Arrangements are under the direction of Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home of Edina, MO

Casket bearers will be Jerry Simpson, Jr., Daniel Parrish, Clayton Rice, Mark Klocke, Dale Dent and Justin Parrish. Burial will be in the Mt. Salem Cemetery, north of Plevna, MO.
