James Elvin Shaw

James Elvin Shaw, 85 of Queen City, Missouri, formerly of Lancaster, Missouri, passed away at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri on Friday, March 6, 2020.

The son of Ralph Elmer and Ida Golda (Tallman) Shaw, he was born on January 14, 1935 in Centerville, Iowa. On April 22, 1953 in Lumberton, Mississippi, he was united in marriage to Carol Evelyn Seibert and to this union three daughters were born, Carla, Cindi and Teresa.

Survivors include his three daughters, Carla Shaw of Queen City, Missouri, Cindi McElroy and husband, Rob of Macon, Missouri and Teresa Myers and husband, Kevin of Macon, Missouri.

Carla’s children Amanda Ryals and husband, Tim of Montgomery, Alabama, their children, Timmy; Eric and Tasha Ryals; Jammiey Bunch of Kirksville, Missouri. Jim also has three great-great granddaughters, Anslee, Braylin and Cam-Zela Ryals.

Cindi’s children Laurie McElroy and Matt of Centralia, Missouri and her children Gannon and Haley and Gracie. Jesse and Lynn McElroy of Jacksonville, Florida with their children, Jackson and Evelyn.

Teresa’s children Shawna and Brent Harris of Macon, Missouri and their children are Jordyn, Briley. Emily Barnes and Nick of Shelbina, Missouri with her children, Isabel, Ian. Tacy and Rusty Reed of Macon, Missouri with their children, Zoey, Kahlyn, Lilly, Skylar and Hunter.

Jim also has several nieces and nephews and other family members.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol, on December 10, 2018; six brothers and one sister: Buel, Burl, Eileen, Ralph Junior (Bud), Sherril, Billy and Richard.

Jim was a well-known sheep shearer for a number of years who did shearing for many families in the area as well as nationwide. He was also an auctioneer for several years and one who enjoyed his work. He loved to garden, farm, raise border collies and enjoyed his livestock. He enjoyed Sunday drives with his wife, Carol through the country. He loved his special time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at 1:30 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Vic Comstock, Pastor of the Family Life Fellowship Church in Moberly, Missouri officiating. Music will be special CD selections of “Go Rest High On That Mountain”, “Daddy’s Hands” and “Grandpa Tell Me About the Good Old Days”. A eulogy will be given by Jim’s only grandson, Jesse McElroy. Pallbearers will be Pode Shaw, Randy Shaw, Wade Shaw, Rob McElroy, Kevin Meyers and Carl Raine. Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 12:30 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Memorials have been established for Darby Cemetery and Schuyler County Nursing Home.
