Charles R. Klingsmith

Charles R. Klingsmith, 68, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly Monday, February 10, 2020 at his home.

Born November 6, 1951 in Kirksville, Missouri, Charles was the son of Lloyd John and Shirley Joann (Pettiet) Klingsmith.

Charles is survived by his mother, Shirley Klingsmith of LaPlata, MO; his fiancée, Laura Bell of Kirksville, MO; one son, Christopher (Stephanie) Blakeburn Jr. of Macon, MO; two daughters, Chrystal (Kevin) Aust of Columbia, MO, and Brittaney (Brad) Neff of Kirksville, MO; six brothers, George (Dorothy) Bell, Kenny Bell, and Dale (Tessie) Bell all of Kirksville, MO, Gail (Debbie) Bell of Linneus, MO, Ronnie Bell of Columbia, MO, and C.R. Bell of Macon, MO; three sisters, Sharon (Alvin) Riley of Moberly, MO, Tammy Klingsmith of Kirksville, MO, and Carol Bell of Clark, MO; nine grandchildren, as well as one great-grandchild Jackson Redmon.

He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd; two grandchildren; two brothers, and a brother-in-law, Gary Bell.

Charles was a graduate from Kirksville High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp. He resided most of his life in LaPlata and Kirksville where he worked in maintenance and construction. Charles enjoyed country music, rebuilding things, collecting clocks, and salt and pepper shakers. He loved his new family, grandchildren and great-grandchild. He also loved his dog Otis who was very special to him as well as his Lord. Charles enjoyed watching the I.D. Channel, Live P.D., Homicide Hunter Joe Kenda, and western movies.

Public visitation will be held Saturday, February 15, 2020 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville. Charles will be cremated following his visitation on Saturday.
