Cynthia “Cindy” Jean Reed, 61, of Trenton, Missouri, formerly of Milan, Missouri, passed away Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Eastview Manor Care Center in Trenton.
Cindy was born May 26, 1965, in Kirksville, to Curt and Imogene (Gross) Richardson, they preceded her in death. She was also preceded by a brother, Chip Jones; niece, Whitnea Watts; and several aunts and uncles.
Cindy was survived by: Three children, Kiah Lopez of Des Moines, Iowa, John Reed and wife Sarah of Milan, and Desiree Reed and significant other, William Roberts of Milan; Grandchildren, Alexa Lopez, Adriana Contreras, Hunter Reed, Waverleigh Roberts, Matthew Youngman, and Keaton Youngman; Siblings, Penny Weaver of Milan, Curtis Richardson and wife Kim of Milan, Rick Richardson and wife Jennifer of Milan, and Christy Watts of Liberty, Missouri; Nieces and nephews, Misty Smith, Doc Weaver, Megan Hernandez, Allie Mullin, Bryce Richardson, Aaron Richardson, Kailyn Watts, and Jaidyn Watts; two aunts, Phyllis Reger and husband Buck of Macon, and Polly Ralls of Trenton; and several cousins.
Cindy grew up in Milan and was a nurse at several nursing homes throughout her life. She loved being a caretaker and helping others. In 2011, she had an aneurysm burst and her life changed drastically and she was no longer able to work. Cindy loved the color pink, playing Pitch, and Bingo. She enjoyed drinking coffee and Pepsi, eating Reese’s, and watching murder mysteries. Cindy was memorable to anyone who met her, she was ornery and loving. She loved her kids and grandkids, spending a great day last Sunday out with her family to see her grandson graduate.
A service for Cindy will be held 11:00 AM, Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Ruschmeier-Smith Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
