Marguerite Hodges, age 93 of La Plata, Missouri, passed away Saturday, March 18, 2023 at Boone Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.
Born November 23, 1929 in Boynton, Missouri, the daughter of Earl and Dessie (Rogers) Ogle. On August 26, 1949 in Kansas City, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Hollis Hodges who preceded her in death on January 8, 2000.
Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Earleta Darnell; and one brother, Marvin Ogle.
Surviving are two sons, Randy (Dena) Hodges of La Plata, Missouri and David (Tammie Walker) Hodges of Oskaloosa, Iowa; two daughters, Joy (Randy) Murr of La Plata, Missouri and Holly (Ken) Clarkson of Springfield, Missouri; one sister, Jeannie (Lee) Collins of Dade City, Florida; ten grandchildren, Toni Hodges Williams, Tiffany Hodges, Jake Hodges, Heather Hodges Brassell, Ryan Hodges, Madison Hodges, Bridget Clarkson Allred, Courtney Clarkson Guison, Wendy Clarkson Robinson, and Andy Clarkson; twenty great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter.
Marguerite was a 1948 graduate of Kirksville High School. She worked at Lambert Glove Factory and later at the La Plata Nursing Home as a CNA, night supervisor, and later was a medical technician on the day shift until her retirement in 1998. She served as an EMT on the La Plata Ambulance for 10 years and raised various small breeds of dogs for 30 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in La Plata.
Marguerite enjoyed spending time with friends, playing cards, going out to lunch, dancing, shopping, and yard sales. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and her special little Shih Tzu, Sissy. She was an independent lady and wanted to do things for herself. Heaven has received a sweet angel.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023 at Travis Funeral Chapel in La Plata, Missouri. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in New Harmony Cemetery, east of La Plata, Missouri.
