Janis Marie Humpal

Janis Marie Humpal, 79, of Edina, Missouri, passed away Friday, February 10, 2023, at the University Medical Center in El Paso, Texas.

Jan was born on April 8, 1943, in rural Knox County, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph Lowell and Alice Marie Davidson Small.

She attended school in Paton-Churdan, Iowa and graduated from the Des Moines Area Junior College as a nurse.

She worked as a nurse and Area Senior Director for a chain of nursing homes in the Perry, Iowa area. She moved to Arizona to work as a nurse and later director for Banner Hospice before retiring. Jan and Bill moved to Edina, Missouri in 2005 and built a home north of Edina, Missouri.

On December 2, 1962, in Blue Earth, Minnesota, Jan married Ronald William “Bill” Humpal, and they celebrated fifty years together before he passed away on September 7, 2012.

Jan enjoyed reading and games on her computer, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and of course her puppies.

Jan is survived by a daughter, Stacie and her husband Larry Kinman of Edina, Missouri; a son, Greg and his wife Annette Humpal of Appleton, Wisconsin; a brother, Larry and Bunny Small of Tierra Verde, Florida; her grandchildren, David and Tarah Fagin, Taylor and Nicole Kinman, Ashley Donahoo, Cory Humpal, and Naomi Humpal; her great grandchildren, Emma and Gracie Fagin, Kaitlyn and Colton Kinman, Chloe and Bentley Donahoo, Abby Tallman, and Remmington Humpal; along with a host of extended family and friends.

Jan was preceded in death by a son, Mitch; a daughter Candi; a granddaughter, Halley Fagin; and a brother, Brent Lindgren.

Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. on Friday, February 17, 2023, with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Jan’s wishes were to be cremated and a Memorial Service will be Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Pastor Graig Connell will officiate the service and Honorary Bearers will be Larry Kinman, Taylor Kinman, David Fagin, Bob White, and Cory Humpal.
