James Richard Western

James Richard Western was born November 25, 1937 at Julesburg, MO. He departed this life peacefully November 25, 2022 in his home at Queen City, MO surrounded by his wife and children. He was the only child of John Wesley & Wilma Jean (Barnett) Western. He married Carol Ann Vincent October 29, 1961 at the Queen City Christian Church. They lived their married life in Queen City later moving to a farm just outside Queen City.

Richard and his parents lived in Julesburg for 7 years, before later moving to a farm north-west of Queen City. He attended grade school at the West Linn Grove Rural School, High School at Queen City graduating in 1955, and attended Kirksville Teacher College for 1 Year. James Richard Western was inducted into the Army National Guard October 1960 and Honorably discharged October 1966. He worked for the glove factory in Kirksville, later he worked at Kirksville Implement for over a year. He worked briefly for John Deere in Greentop, Mo. then he was offered a job at Huntsmen Equipment the Allis-Chalmers dealer in Lancaster, Mo. This started his Allis-Chalmers affiliation. Huntsmen retired and Richard & Carol bought the dealership and moved it to Queen City. Their successful dealership operated for 20 years. He closed the dealership and took up farming full-time outside of Queen City where he lived the rest of his life. He farmed and was a substitute mail carrier.

He was an avid old Ford car enthusiast owning and restoring several Model-T’s and other old Ford cars. He enjoyed touring with antique car friends through the Illiamo Model-T Club. He also loved hanging out with his family. He loved to hunt, especially quail, pheasant, turkey, and coyotes.

He was preceded in death by his parents, father & mother in-law and granddaughter, Rachel Ann Morris.

He is survived by his wife Carol, his son John David Western and David Lee Barker and Step-Grandson Matthew Lee Barker of Paxton, IL, his daughter and son-in-law Sara Ann and Randy Morris, two granddaughters Lauren Beth and Jacie Marie Morris of Queen City, and several cousins, nieces, nephews and many friends.

He was a member of the Queen City Christian Church.

Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday, November 27, 2022 at Dooley Funeral Home, Queen City, Missouri.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 28, 2022 at Dooley Funeral Home with Pastor Sonny Smyser officiating. Burial will be in Queen City Cemetery.
