MLB Scores Monday 10-3

NATIONAL LEAGUE
PITTSBURGH 3 – St. Louis 2… The Pirates rallied from two runs down after 5-1/2 innings to edge the Cardinals. Oneil Cruz drew a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the ninth inning to bring home Ke’Bryan Hayes with the winning run. Jack Suwinski tied the game with a homer to lead off the eighth. St. Louis’ Albert Pujols broke a scoreless tie by belting his 703rd career homer with a runner aboard. His 2,216 career RBI moved him past Babe Ruth for second place on the all-time list.

MIAMI 4 – Atlanta 0… Jesus Luzardo (4-7) pitched four-hit ball and struck out 12 in a sharp six-inning effort and the Marlins blanked the Braves to prevent them from clinching the NL East title. Bryan De La Cruz went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer and an RBI double.

CINCINNATI 3 – Chi. Cubs 1… Hunter Greene (5-13) pitched two-hit ball over six scoreless innings and the Reds eased past the Cubs. Kyle Farmer and Jonathan India produced run-scoring doubles for Cincinnati.

MILWAUKEE 6 – Arizona 5 (10 innings)… The Brewers outlasted the Diamondbacks on a night they were eliminated from the postseason with a Philadelphia win. Hunter Renfroe hit a leadoff homer to spark a three-run top of the ninth inning and singled home Willy Adames with the winning run in the 10th.

SAN DIEGO 7 – San Francisco 4… The Padres scored all seven runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break up a scoreless tie, bury the Giants and remain a game ahead of Philadelphia in the race for the NL’s second wild card. Brandon Dixon sparked the uprising with an RBI double. Joke Cronenworth doubled home two runs and Wil Meyers cracked a three-run homer. San Diego starter Joe Musgrove limited San Francisco to two hits over six scoreless innings.

Colorado 2 – L.A. DODGERS 1… Michael Toglia singled home Sean Bouchard with a tie-breaking run in the top of the ninth inning and the Rockies made it stand in their win over the NL West-champion Dodgers. Alan Trejo’s single brought home the game’s first run in the second.

Washington – N.Y. METS (ppd)… Rain in New York forced postponement of last night’s Nationals-Mets game. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader today.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Kansas City 5 – CLEVELAND 2 (10 innings)… Drew Waters’ three-run homer in the top of the 10th inning powered the Royals past the AL Central-champion Guardians. Waters’ infield single in the second scored Edward Olivares with the game’s first run.

Toronto 5 – BALTIMORE 1 (8 innings)… The Blue Jays downed the Orioles in a rain-shortened contest and moved within one victory, or a Seattle loss, of clinching the AL’s top wild-card spot. Jose Berrios (12-7) gave up a run on three hits over six innings. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. homered. Whit Merrifield went 3-for-3 with a two-run single.

N.Y. Yankees 3 – TEXAS 1… Luis Severino (7-3) pitched seven no-hit innings and the AL East-champion Yankees squeezed past the Rangers. Solo homers by Marwin Gonzalez and Giancarlo Stanton in the top of the eighth inning provided the winning margin.

BOSTON 4 – Tampa Bay 3… The Red Sox overcame a three-run deficit to top the playoff-bound Rays. Rafael Devers lifted a tie-breaking sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh. Christian Arroyo put Boston on the board with a two-run double in the sixth and scored on Enrique Hernández’s double.

CHI. WHITE SOX 3 – Minnesota 2… The White Sox upended the Twins after spotting them a two-run first-inning lead. Josh Harrison homered with a runner aboard in the bottom of the second inning and Carlos Pérez singled home the decisive run in the seventh. Johnny Cueto (8-10) allowed two runs on six hits over seven innings.

OAKLAND 5 – L.A. Angels 4 (10 innings)… The Athletics did all their scoring in their final three at-bats to rally past the Angels. Tony Kemp’s infield single scored Bride with the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning. Seth Brown tripled and scored in the eighth and tied the game in the ninth with a two-run single.

Detroit 4 – SEATTLE 3… Javier Báez hit a two-run homer and the Tigers got run-scoring singles from Miguel Cabrera and Victor Reyes in their defeat of the playoff-bound Mariners. Seattle maintains its 1-1/2-game lead over Tampa Bay in the race for the AL’s second wild card.

INTERLEAGUE
Philadelphia 3 – HOUSTON 0… The Phillies blanked the Astros to clinch the third and final NL wild card. Aaron Nola (11-13) pitched two-hit ball and fanned nine over 6-2/3 innings. Kyle Schwarber hit a pair of solo homers for Philadelphia. Bryson Stott also went deep.
