MLB Scores Tuesday 8-2

NATIONAL LEAGUE
SAN DIEGO 13 – Colorado 5… Trent Grisham and Jake Cronenworth hit two-run homers to help power the Padres past the Rockies in the opener of a doubleheader. Jurickson Profar went 5-for-6 with a two-run double. Ha-Seong Kim had four hits and drove in two runs.

SAN DIEGO 3 – Colorado 2… Trent Grisham’s one-out solo homer in the bottom of the ninth inning gave the Padres a walkoff win over the Rockies and a sweep of the twinbill. Jorge Alfaro and Wil Meyers lifted sacrifice flies in the bottom of the first inning after Colorado scored twice in the top half. Newly acquired reliever Josh Hader worked the ninth and picked up the win.

Cincinnati 2 – MIAMI 1… Aristides Aquino stroked a two-run single in the top of the first inning to provide all the offense the Reds needed in holding off the Marlins. Graham Ashcraft (5-2) allowed just an unearned run on five hits over 8-1/3 innings in outdueling Braxton Garrett (2-5).

PITTSBURGH 5 – Milwaukee 3… The Pirates erupted to score all five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning after the Brewers scored all three runs in the top half. Oneil Cruz sparked Pittsburgh’s uprising with a game-tying three-run homer. Tyler Heineman added an RBI single.

WASHINGTON 5 – N.Y. Mets 1… Luis Garcia cracked a tie-breaking two-run homer and Cesar Hernández added a solo shot in the bottom of the sixth inning as the Nationals pulled away from the Mets. Garcia doubled home the game’s first run in the fourth. Joey Meneses also went deep for Washington.

ATLANTA 13 – Philadelphia 1… Eddie Rosario went 3-for-5 and knocked in five runs to lead the Braves in their romp over the Phillies. Marcell Ozuna had three hits, including a run-scoring single and solo homer. Omar Arcia homered with a runner aboard. Spencer Strider (6-3) surrendered a run on three hits and struck out 13 over 6-2/3 innings.

ST. LOUIS 6 – Chi. Cubs 0… Adam Wainwright (8-8) scattered six hits over seven innings and two Cardinals relievers completed the shutout of the Cubs. Paul Goldschmidt stroked a two-run single in the bottom of the second inning and homered with the bases empty in the sixth. Nolan Arenado also circled the bases.

L.A. Dodgers 9 – SAN FRANCISCO 5… Mookie Betts singled home a run, doubled in another  homered to lead the Dodgers past the Giants. Gavin Lux and Cody Bellinger drove in two runs apiece. L.A starter Tyler Anderson ran his record to 12-1 despite a rough five-inning outing.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
Seattle 8 – N.Y. YANKEES 6… The Mariners fought their way past the Yankees after blowing an early four–run lead. Pinch-hitter Sam Haggerty hit a tie-breaking homer to lead off the top of the seventh inning. Eugenio Suárez hit a two-run homer and Cal Raleigh added a solo shot for Seattle.

Toronto 3 – TAMPA BAY 1… Kevin Gausman (8-8) allowed just one hit and fanned 10 in a dominating eight-inning effort and the Blue Jays clipped the Rays. Danny Jansen’s two-run single in the top of the ninth inning proved to be the difference. Bo Bichette singled home Toronto’s only other run in the first.

Detroit 5 – MINNESOTA 3… Akil Baddoo, Riley Greene and Javier Báez produced run-scoring singles in a five-run top of the seventh inning that sent the Tigers past the Twins. Greene and Jonathan Schoop doubled home runs in the fifth for Detroit.

Baltimore 8 – TEXAS 2… Jorge Mateo homered twice and knocked in five runs as the Orloles rolled past the Rangers. Adley Rutschman and Anthony Santander each had a couple of hits and an RBI. Jordan Lyles (8-8) gave up a run on seven hits over 6-1/3 innings.

Boston 2 – HOUSTON 1… Rafael Devers stroked an RBI double and homered in his return from the injured list and the Red Sox squeaked out a win over the Astros. Kutter Crawford (3-3) held Houston to a run on seven hits over six innings.

CHI. WHITE SOX 9 – Kansas City 2… The White Sox used a 14-hit attack to thrash the Royals. Eloy Jiménez went 3-for-3 with four RBIs. Jose Abreu singled home a run and homered with a runner aboard. A Gavin Sheets solo homer capped the scoring. Lucas Giolito (7-6) allowed two runs on five hits over five innings.

INTERLEAGUE
Arizona 6 – CLEVELAND 3… Christian Walker staked the Diamondbacks to an early lead with a three-run homer in the top of the first inning and they cruised past the Guardians. Carson Kelly homered with the bases empty. Alek Thomas produced a two-run double.
