Ruth Ann Mann, 89, of rural Newark, Missouri, passed away Sunday, April 3rd, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her family.
Ruth was born on January 15th, 1933, in Denver, Colorado, the daughter of LeRoy R. and Anna LeVada Curl Edmundson.
She grew up in Denver, Colorado, and at the age of 7 her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska. She then later moved to Chicago, Illinois, where she graduated from Bowen High School in the class of 1950. She continued her education and graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois. She soon became an elementary school teacher.
On November 27th, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois, Ruth married Noble William “Bill” Mann and to this union, four children were born.
Ruth and Bill returned to the Newark, Missouri area in 1957 to make their home and raise their family.
Ruth is survived by her husband Noble “Bill” Mann of Newark, Missouri; a sister Irene of Oklahoma, a son, Gary Mann of Wyoming; two daughters, Lori Mann of The Woodlands, Texas, and Barbara Tusa and her husband Edward of Richmond, Texas; seven grandchildren; Melanie (Arthur) Matthews, Kelly McKenzie, Samuel McKenzie, Jason Mann, Justice Garza, Coulter Mann, and Alexis Mann; seven great grandchildren; Adara (Marquis) Crawford, Adrian (Madeline) Reeves, Alex (Missy) Santi, Abigail, Andrew, Analynn, Carter and great great grandchildren; Avery and Aalaja, along with nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and LeVada Edmundson; a daughter, Cheryl Lynn McKenzie; and a brother, Arlo R. Edmundson.
Ruth was a woman of great faith in Jesus Christ. She always said “every day is a good day, some are just better than others”! If you asked her how she was doing, she’d always reply smiling “Better than I deserve!”
Although Ruth was a city girl, she was a very hard working woman on the farm with her husband, helping him in the hayfields, tending to the animals, raising the children, gardening, baking cakes and her famous 12-grain Bread! She also adored cats, for many years she bred and raised Himalayans, Persians and Siamese. She also attended several cat shows where her kitties always brought home blue ribbons. Ruth was truly an amazing woman, full of wisdom kindness love and grace.
Her wishes were to further medical education by donating her body to the A.T. Still University Medical Department.
The family is scheduling a private family memorial service at a later date.
