Leo William Faris

Leo William Faris, 83 of rural Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at the Schuyler County Nursing Home in Queen City, Missouri where he had been a resident since August 2021.

The son Otis William and Ruth Lorene (Gardine) Faris, he was born on December 5, 1938 in rural Queen City, Missouri.  He was a 1956 graduate of Downing High School in Downing, Missouri.  Leo was united in marriage to Marjorie Sue Hankins on December 19, 1964 in Kirksville, Missouri and to this union four daughters were born, Caren, Linda, Billie and Shirley.

Leo is survived by his daughters, Caren Turner and husband, Roger of rural Queen City, Missouri, Linda Ledford and husband, Mark of Green Castle, Missouri, Billie Faris of Kirksville, Missouri and Shirley West and husband, Steve of Kirksville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Cassandra Turner of Lancaster, Missouri, Bradley Turner of Missouri and Scott Turner of Greentop, Missouri; two great grandchildren, Baylee Turner of Lancaster, Missouri and Layden Turner of Greentop, Missouri; one sister, Barbara Roberts of Lancaster, Missouri; one sister-in-law, Betty Jefferson of Warrensburg, Missouri;  nieces and nephews and other family members.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marjorie on October 29, 2021; one grandson, Cody Charles Turner and two brothers-in-law, Donnie Roberts and James Jefferson.

Leo served in the United States Army and received an honorable discharge.  When he came back from the service, he was employed with Kirksville Lumber in Kirksville, Missouri and then with Lumber City in Kirksville, Missouri for approximately 25 years.  He then came home to focus on farming and raising cattle.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri officiating.  Music will be special CD selections of “Go Rest High On That Mountain” and “Angels Among Us.”  Pallbearers will be Scott Turner, Merle Whiteside, Rodney Roberts, Jordan Neagle, Ryan Bushnell and Mike Gray.  Honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Turner, Henry Schubert, Mark Bushnell and Charlie Neagle.  Visitation will be held on Monday, April 4, 2022 at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 p.m.   Memorials have been established for Germania Cemetery.  Military rites will be performed at the cemetery by the Schuyler County American Legion Post 0784.   Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.  Online condolences may be expressed to the family by logging on to normanfh.com.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Norman Funeral Home of Lancaster, Missouri.
