Shirley June Dunlap

Shirley June Dunlap, 81, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, November 10th at The Pines in Kirksville. Shirley was saved as a young girl and baptized by Rev. Jeremy Broach of Kirksville. Shirley was born January 5, 1940, in Sullivan County to Wauneta and J.W. Bundridge. On December 24th, 1959, Shirley was united in marriage to Chess Dunlap whom precedes her in death. Also preceding her in death is a brother, Roger Bundridge and a sister Karron Morris.

Survivors are two daughters and sons-in-law, Glenda and Tysen Lawson of Kirksville, Brenda and Leo Healy of Milan, also sister, Linda and Jim Ed Dunlap of Milan, sister Neta Faye and Randy Tolle of Glenwood, Iowa, sisters-in-law Shirley Bundridge of Milan, Ruth Ann Taylor of Milan, and an Uncle, Dr. George and Elaine Pipes of Kirksville.

Grandchildren and spouses are Ashley and Riley McClaskey of Kearney, Missouri, April and Brad Long of Milan, Aaron Conner of Milan, Lora Healy of Milan, and Kellie Healy of Madison, Wisconsin and step grandchild Alex Lawson of Kirksville, Great Grandchildren are Conner McClaskey and Reese McClaskey of Kearney.

Shirley worked at Hallmark in Kansas City, Missouri a few years then moved back to Milan and worked at (Stampers) ConAgra for 30 plus years where she then retired.

Shirley loved to play her guitar, which she played by ear and played with a group called “Shade Tree Pickers.” Gordon Johnson, June Murphy Pilcher, and Steve Head to name a few of the pickers. They played at social gatherings around the local area.

Shirley and Chess would put on a big fish fry at Reno Hill every year with lots of good food, Shade Tree Pickers music, a campfire that would last through the night and many tents all around, and then to wake up to a campfire breakfast for all, she was a great cook.

Shirley loved to be with family and friends especially her grandchildren. Shirley is playing her guitar and singing with her family and the angels.

Funeral services for Shirley will be held 1:30 PM, Tuesday, November 16, 2021, at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at the Mt. Zion Cemetery. A visitation is scheduled for 5:00 to 7:00 PM, Monday evening at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
