Harold Gean Lake

Harold Gean Lake, 79 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away on Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Kirksville Manor Care Center in Kirksville, Missouri.

The son of Darrel and Geneva (May) Lake, he was born on March 10, 1942 in rural Schuyler County, Missouri. Gean was united in marriage to Margaret Alice (Beach) Miller on October 26, 1989 in Lancaster, Missouri.

Survivors include two step children, Jim Miller and wife, Nancy of Waukee, Iowa and Leisa Walter and husband, Greg of Kirksville, Missouri; three step grandchildren, Amy Garr of Kirksville, Missouri, Megan Saffell and husband, Todd of Waukee, Iowa and Lydia Flennory of Kirksville, Missouri; seven step great grandchildren, Kaitlea, Ian, Caleb and Rory Garr all of Kirksville, Missouri; Calvin and Libby Saffell of Waukee, Iowa and Kayden Flennory of Kirksville, Missouri; one sister, Becky Lake of Brookfield, Missouri; nieces and nephews and other family members.

Gean is preceded by his parents; his wife, Margaret Lake on January 26, 2017; two brothers, Roy (Nub) Lake and James Lake and one sister, Ruth Peal.

Gean did custodial work for a number of businesses in the local area including Kathy’s Korner, doctors’ offices and the Post Office in Lancaster. Gean and Margaret babysat for a number of families which they bonded with, and the children became “their” kids!

Funeral services will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith officiating. Special CD musical selections of “Amazing Grace” and “Precious Memories” will be played. Pallbearers will be Daniel Haley, Greg Walter, Ian Garr, Jim Miller and Jeff Tallman. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 15, 2021 between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri. Memorials have been established for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site and Hospice of Northeast Missouri. Burial will be in the Arni Memorial Cemetery in Lancaster, Missouri.
