Esty Eyler

Estalene “Esty” Eyler, 88, of Baring, Missouri passed away Monday, October 18, 2021, at the Scotland County Hospital in Memphis, Missouri.

Esty was born on June 2, 1933, in Scotland County, Missouri, the daughter of Joseph and Cleo (McHugh) Purvis.

She was attended Scotland County Schools and graduated from the Scotland County High School in the class of 1951.

She then moved to Washington D.C. and worked for the F.B.I., for a couple years, before returning to Northeast Missouri State Teachers College in Kirksville, Missouri, where she received her degree.

She always enjoyed attending basketball games and that’s where she met her future husband of fifty years.

On June 10, 1956 in Memphis, Missouri, Esty married Raymond Kenneth Eyler and they made their home in Baring, Missouri.

She was employed, in 1956, at the Knox City Elementary School for seven years before taking a break from her teaching career to raise her children. Esty returned to Knox County High School, in 1977, as a teacher’s aide and retired on May 20, 2016, with more than forty-seven years teaching. She enjoyed the students and was a friend to all, one year she was the keynote speaker for graduation. She also worked in her spare time at the Blue Room in Edina. However, the love of her life was her friends, family, and most of all her grandchildren.

Esty is survived by a son, Kent Raymond and his wife Becky Eyler of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; a sister, Margaret Watson of Canton, Illinois; sisters-in-law, Annie Eyler of Dallas, Texas and Janice Rineberg of O’Fallon, Illinois;; five nephews, Chris Eyler and his wife, Dana of O’Fallon, Missouri, Tony Eyler of Dallas, Texas, John Rineberg and his wife, Jennifer of Danville, Illinois, Steve Rineberg and his wife, Laura of O’Fallen, Illinois and Terry Watson of Canton, Illinois; four nieces, Cindy and her husband Paul Prough of Queen City, Missouri, Bridget Eyler and Lesley Eyler both of Dallas, Texas, and Rebecca Taggart of Colorado Springs, Colorado; two grandchildren, Sara Eyler Rose and her husband Coe, and Joseph Eyler all of Springfield, Missouri, and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Cleo Purvis, husband, Raymond Eyler on October 2, 2006; a daughter Karen Lynn Eyler on November 8, 2015; and a sister, Joan “Joni” Beasley.

Funeral services will be Friday, OCTOBER 29, 2021, at 2:00 p.m., at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Visitation will be Friday, OCTOBER 29, 2021, with the family receiving friends from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Doss Funeral Home in Edina, Missouri.

Burial will be in the St. Aloysius Cemetery in Baring, Missouri.
