MLB SCOREBOARD…
ATLANTA 5 – Philadelphia 3…. The Braves completed a sweep of the Phillies and clinched their fourth straight NL East title. Jorge Soler homered to lead off the bottom of the first inning and Austin Riley homered leading off the fourth. Ian Anderson (9-5) allowed two runs on three hits over six innings.

NATIONAL LEAGUE
SAN FRANCISCO 5 – Arizona 4… LaMonte Wade singled home Steven Duggar with the
winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Giants topped the Diamondbacks to remain two games ahead off the second-place L.A. Dodgers in the race for the NL West title. Brandon Crawford homered for San Francisco. Buster Posey lifted a sacrifice fly and doubled home a run.

L.A. DODGERS 8 – San Diego 3… Corey Seager homered twice to lead a power barrage that sent the Dodgers past the Padres. Mookie Betts, Justin Turner and AJ Pollock also went deep for L.A.

ST. LOUIS 4 – Milwaukee 3… Dylan Carlson hit two go-ahead home runs from both sides o the plate and the Cardinals edged the Brewers in a matchup of teams heading to the postseason. J.A. Happ (10-8) gave up three runs on nine hits over 6-1/3 innings.

Chi. Cubs 9 – PITTSBURGH 0…  Justin Steele (4-4) pitched four-hit ball over seven innings and got plenty of offensive support in the Cubs’ blanking of the Pirates. Sergio Alcantara’s two-run homer sparked a five-run top of the second inning. Rafael Ortega homered to lead off the game.

N.Y. METS 12 – Miami 3… Pete Alonso homered twice and knocked in three runs as the Mets thrashed the Marlins. Francisco Lindor unloaded a grand slam. Michael Conforto had three hits and knocked in two runs.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
HOUSTON 3 – Tampa Bay 2… Carlos Correa broke a scoreless tie with a three-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning and the Astros held on to top the Rays and clinch the NL West title for the fourth time in five seasons. Lance McCullers, Jr., (13-5) allowed two runs on three hits over six innings.

N.Y Yankees 6 – TORONTO 2… The Yankees cruised past the Blue Jays and extended their lead for the top AL wild card to two games over Boston and idle Seattle. Toronto is three games back. Aaron Judge cracked a pair of solo homers. Gleyber Torres, Anthony Rizzo and Brett Gardner also went deep.

BALTIMORE 6 – Boston 2… The Orioles continued to play the spoiler role as they took the rubber game of the series and dropped the Red Sox into a tie with Seattle in the race for the AL’s second wild card. Alexander Wells (2-3) held Boston to a run and three hits over six innings. Ryan Mountcastle blasted a three-run homer. Tyler Nevin singled home a pair of runs.

TEXAS 7 – L.A. Angels 6… The Rangers overcame an early five-run deficit to upend the Angels. Brock Holt lined a go-ahead two-run double in the bottom of the eighth inning. DJ Peters belted a three-run homer and Adolis Garcia added a two-run shot.

Detroit 10 – MINNESOTA 7… Niko Goodrum homered twice and drove in four runs as the Tigers outslugged the Twins. Dustin Garneau’s sacrifice fly scored Jeimer Candelario with a tie-breaking run in the top of the eighth inning. Jonathan Schoop homered with the bases empty in the ninth.

Cleveland 6 – KANSAS CITY 1… Five pitchers held the Royals at bay and the Indians breezed to the win. Bradley Zimmer drove in three runs and Harold Ramirez brought home two more with a pair of singles.
