Rudy Carl Snedigar

Rudy Carl Snedigar, 74 of Lancaster, Missouri passed away at the Scotland County Memorial Hospital in Memphis, Missouri on Thursday, September 2, 2021.

The son of Louis Elden and Patricia Jean (Taylor) Snedigar, he was born on March 24, 1947 in Centerville, Iowa. He attended various schools during his childhood, which included a one room schoolhouse. He finished school at Lancaster High School graduating with the Class of 1965. He was a member of the basketball team that won 4th in the class S State Tournament Championships of which he was very proud. Rudy also treasured his classmates’ friendships that endured over the years. He thoroughly enjoyed planning and hosting the 50-year class reunion.

He was a United States Marines Corps veteran. He enlisted in l967, interrupting his college years, serving until 1971. He completed his BS degree in Accounting from Northeast Missouri State University in l973. His MBA was completed in 1994 from St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa.

He was united in marriage to Deborah Ann Norman at the United Methodist Church in Lancaster, Missouri on January 17, 1969 and to this union six children were born, which Rudy often said they were his greatest accomplishments in his life.

Rudy is survived by his wife, Deborah Ann Snedigar of Lancaster, Missouri; six children, Wesley Taylor Snedigar and wife, Rheonna and sons, Alec and Aiden of Richmond, Indiana, Jesse Tate Snedigar and wife, Melodie and daughter, Amelia of Kansas City, Missouri, Elizabeth Anne McGuire and husband, Andrew and sons, Tate, Drew, Brooks and Gabriel of Kansas City, Missouri, Ethan Norman Snedigar and wife, Sadee and daughters, Adia and Veda of Daphne, Alabama, Seth Snedigar and wife, Rebecca and daughter, Madyson and son, Connor of Valley, Alabama and Lucas Carl Snedigar and wife, Suzette and daughters, Kaira and Eliza of Westminster, South Carolina; one sister, Billie Jean Hart and husband, Bob of The Villages in Florida; mother-in-law, Frances Norman of Lancaster, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews and other family members.

Rudy is preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Dauphin Lawrence Snedigar.

Rudy’s professional accounting career began with Peat Marwick of Kansas City, Missouri where he specialized in hospital and health care audits. He then went on to be CFO of the Medical Center in Independence, Missouri. He wanted to move back to the rural area of northeast Missouri where his business and financial experience led to entrepreneurships in several business and farming before going back to hospital finance. He was the CFO of Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield, Iowa and Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield, Iowa. He then became CEO of Clarinda Regional Health Center in Clarinda, Iowa, moving to Arizona on the Navajo Nation as the CEO/CFO of Sage Memorial Hospital in Ganado, Arizona. Then finally moving back to Missouri and Barton County Memorial Hospital in Lamar, Missouri followed by Logan County Hospital in Oakley, Kansas.

Upon retirement and moving back to Lancaster, Missouri, he enjoyed gardening, giving away produce and being outdoors, mowing the yard. He also enjoyed following the grandchildren’s sports and music activities. He volunteered at the Schuyler County Historical Society and delivered meals for the Schuyler County Nutrition Site.

He was a member of the Lancaster United Methodist Church having served in many leadership capacities over the years. During the years of parenting a large family, he was active in supporting youth activities, coaching and assisting with 4H. He was a member of the Schuyler County School Board that facilitated the building of the Elementary School, the first building of the current Schuyler County School Complex.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Mark Drummond, Pastor of the Lancaster Baptist Church in Lancaster, Missouri officiating and assisted by Sonny Smyser, Pastor of the Schuyler County Church of Faith in Lancaster, Missouri. Music will be provided by pianist, Dr. Donna Norman Garvin, sister-in-law, with special congregational selections of “How Great Is Our God”, “Hymn of Promise” and “Amazing Grace”. Pallbearers will be Wesley Snedigar, Jesse Snedigar, Ethan Snedigar, Seth Snedigar, Lucas Snedigar and Andrew McGuire. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
