Randall Maurice Murphy

Randall Maurice Murphy, age 62, of Kirksville, Missouri died September 1, 2021. He was the son of Dennis M. Murphy and Joyce Vandervort Murphy.

He was a 1978 graduate of Green City High School. After graduation, he followed his Dad’s trade in communications and worked in the cable industry for many years. He liked to hunt, fish, camp and was a master on the chess board. He never met a stranger. His laugh was contagious and made everyone around him smile. To know him was to love him.

He married Bobbi Chapman of Milan, Missouri, who worked with him in the cable industry. One son, Corey, was born to this union. Later, he had a special relationship with Carmen Hackworth of Newton, Iowa. One daughter, Carley, was born to this union.

Surviving him is a son, Corey Wade Murphy of Scottsdale, Arizona, a daughter Carley (Kyle) Anderson of Tucson, Arizona, his father, Dennis (Carol) Murphy of Rogersville, Missouri (formerly of Green City), brothers, David Murphy of Angleton, Texas, Daniel Murphy of Sulphur Springs, Texas and Bryan (Terri) Murphy of Austin, Texas, 2 step brothers, Brian (Shelley) Todd and Jason (Coreen) Todd, 1 step sister, LeeAnne Todd, an uncle, Tandy (Mary) Murphy of Kirksville, Missouri, an aunt, Betty Mauk of Brookville, Pennsylvania, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mac and Ula Murphy of Kirksville, Missouri, Clarence and Hazel Vandervort, of Brookville, Pennsylvania, several uncles and aunts, and his mother, Joyce Vandervort Murphy of Brookville, Pennsylvania in 2018.

A visitation will be at the Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City, Missouri, on Tuesday September 7th, 2021 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Per Randall’s wishes, he will be cremated. There will be no funeral service.
