Mary Jane (Gibson) Carlson

Mary Jane (Gibson) Carlson, 90 of Greentop, Missouri passed away on Monday, August 30, 2021 at the Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois.

The daughter of James Arnold and Mertie Mae (Butcher) Gibson, she was born on July 9, 1931 in Galt, Missouri.

On September 16, 1951 in Princeton, Missouri, she was united in marriage to Warren Edward Carlson and to this union five children were born, Terry, Pat, David, Judy and Randall.

Mary Jane is survived by four children, Pat Reading and husband, Rick of Paris, Missouri, David Carlson and wife, Tammie of Sherman, Texas, Judy Owen and husband, Tim of Greentop, Missouri and Randall Carlson and wife, Kelley of Greentop, Missouri; 27 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other family members and many good neighbors and friends.

Mary Jane is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Warren Edward on June 8, 2005; one son, Terry Carlson; two brothers, Robert Gibson and Oral Gibson and one sister, Maxine Collins.

Mary Jane was a strong believer in her Lord. She took every opportunity to witness to those she came in contact with. She loved hard and unconditionally and was a positive influence and a bright light to all she encountered.

In 1981, they sold the farm at Farber, Missouri and moved the family to a farm in the Willmathsville, Missouri vicinity. Mary and Warren were strong believers in education and supported and encouraged all of their children through college. She certainly enjoyed the time she was able to spend with her family and all of the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 4, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri with Andrew Johnson, Pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Manilla, Iowa officiating. Special musical selections of “Blessed Assurance”, “In The Garden” and “To God Be The Glory” will be performed. Pallbearers will be Jacob Owen, Joshua Owen, Ryan Reading, Matthew Carlson, Jared Carlson, Michael Carlson and Isaac Dorado. Honorary pallbearers will be Israel Carlson, K. C. Carlson, Jordan Carlson and Forrest Sanders. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. at the Norman Funeral Home in Lancaster, Missouri.
