Karen Sue Leffler

Karen Sue Leffler, 73 of Gibbs, Missouri passed away Monday, August 30, 2021 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri.

The daughter of Homer and Dorothy (Epperson) Johnson, she was born August 19, 1948 in Kirksville, Missouri. On January 1, 1989 in Brashear, Missouri she was united in married to Bill Leffler.

Karen is survived by her husband, Bill; children, Brandy Schneider and husband Heath of Kirksville, Monty Platz and wife Mia of Ankeny, IA and Jessica Hobbs and husband Jack of Ottawa, KS; six grandchildren, Nikki Schneider, Tristan Platz, Amelia Platz, Jaden Leffler, Ava Leffler and Ruby Davis; and two sisters, Janet Taylor and husband Jerry of Greentop, MO and Jean Caird of Washington.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Nikki Platz.

Karen grew up in Brashear and graduated from the Brashear High School in 1966. She received her B.S. of Education from Northeast Missouri State University and later received her Master degree in Counseling. She taught at the LaPlata Schools, worked for MIPPS and then for Kirksville Regional Center until she retired. After retirement she worked part time as a para in the Brashear Schools. She was the Brashear High School cross country coach in 1997.

She enjoyed riding horses, adopting animals, traveling and going to Disney World. She loved her grandkids and never missed any of their sporting events.

Visitation with the family will be from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, September 3, 2021 with a funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be at a later date in Park View Memorial Gardens.

Memorials in memory of Karen are suggested to the Adair County Humane Society or the Brashear Schools.
