Gonda L. Manning

Gonda L. Manning, 92 of Kirksville passed away at home surrounded by loved ones. She went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 7, 2021.

She was born on November 25, 1928 to Alexander Nimmo and Margarete (Cassity) Nimmo in Purdin, Missouri. She received her education in Novinger. On January 26, 1949 she married Frank Manning and to that union three daughters were born.

Gonda is survived by three daughters, Elizabeth Watson of Trenton, MI, Deann & Ronnie Stewart of Brashear, MO and Mary Hicks of Macon, MO; 18 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 29 great great grandchildren.

Gonda spent her life preaching the Gospel of Jesus. Her and her late husband started their ministry in Downing, MO. Later, they pastored a church in Worthington, as well as Decker Chapel in Kirksville, MO. At the time of her death, she was a co-pastor at the Gospel Outreach Church in Kirksville. She also had a ministry of sending cards and letters (as well as phone calls) to prisons and family and friends, with words of encouragement and love to those in need. In 2005 she and Margaret Gregory started the first Outreach Mission in Kirksville and it is still in operation today.

Gonda worked in dietary at Village 76 Nutrition Site, Grim-Smith Hospital and KOH as a cook until her retirement. She will always be known for her humble, kind, giving and loving spirit. Her greatest loves were God, her church family and her family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Frank Manning, one daughter, Ruth March, one grandson, Boyd March, one great grandson, Stephen Potter, three sons-in-law, Dale Watson, Don Hicks and Kenny March, one brother, Billy Nimmo, and one great great grandson, Jessie West.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Sparks, his staff and AGPCNP Stephnie Wriedt for their exemplary care and compassion during her final days. Lamentations 3:32; Though he brings grief, he will show compassion, so great is his unfailing love.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 3:00 p.m. Sunday, July 11, 2021 with funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at Davis-Playle-Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home. Burial will be in Park View Memorial Gardens.
