NATIONAL LEAGUE
WASHINGTON 3 – Miami 1… Max Scherzer (2-2) gave up just a run on five hits and struck out nine in a complete-game victory over the Marlins. He lost the shutout when Isan Diaz homered to lead off the top of the ninth. Ryan Zimmerman’s three-run homer in the third provided all the offense the Nationals needed.

St. Louis 3 – PITTSBURGH 0… Carlos Martinez (2-4) held the Pirates to five hits over eight innings and reliever Alex Reyes completed the shutout and notched his seventh save. Harrison Bader slugged a three-run homer in the top of the second inning.

CINCINNATI 13 – Chi. Cubs 12 (10 innings)… Nick Castellanos’ single in the bottom of the 10th inning scored with the winning run after the Reds blew a four-run eighth-inning lead. Castellanos also hit a two-run homer in the third, when Cincinnati also got got back-to-back homers from Mike Moustakas and Eugenio Suarez. Tucker Barnhart went deep, as well.

L.A. Dodgers 16 – MILWAUKEE 4… A.J. Pollock and Matt Beaty unloaded grand slams to highlight the Dodgers’ throttling of the Brewers. Pollock aded a three-run homer and finished with eight RBIs. Beaty knocked in seven runs.

ARIZONA 8 – Colorado 4… Stephen Vogt legged out a tie-breaking two-run triple in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Diamondbacks got back-to-back RBI doubles from Josh Rojas and Daulton Varsho in doubling up on the Rockies. Pavin Smith hit a two-run homer.

San Francisco 7 – SAN DIEGO 1… The Giants cruised past the Padres to salvage the series finale. Mike Tauchman hit a three-run homer and drew a bases-loaded walk. Tommy La Stella drove in a pair of runs with a single and a triple.

N.Y. Mets 8 – PHILADELPHIA 7… The Mets escaped with a win over the Phillies, thanks in part to a replay reversal in the top of the ninth inning that gave Rhys Hoskins a two-run double rather than a three-run homer. Pete Alonso’s bases-clearing double capped a six-run eighth for New York. Jonathan Villar sparked the rally with a leadoff homer.

AMERICAN LEAGUE
N.Y. YANKEES 2 – Detroit 0… Yankees starter Corey Kluber (2-2) allowed just two hits and struck out 10 over eight innings in notching his 100th career victory. Kyle Hagashioka doubled home a run and Brett Gardner lifted a sacrifice fly as New York scored both runs in the bottom of the second inning.

TAMPA BAY 5 – Houston 4… Austin Meadows belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the fifth inning and scored a tie-breaking run on Manuel Margot’s pinch-hit single in the seventh to lead the Rays past the Astros.

Cleveland 5 – CHI. WHITE SOX 0… Zach Plesac (2-3) pitched three-hit ball over 5-2/3 innings and got help from three relievers in the blanking of the White Sox. Jose Ramirez homered with a runner aboard and Cesar Hernandez smacked a solo shot for the Indians. Amed Rosario went 3-for-4 with an RBI.

MINNESOTA 13 – Kansas City 4… Andrelton Simmons’ two-run homer sparked a seven-run bottom of the third inning and the Twins rolled past the Royals. Mitch Garver capped the big inning with a three-run homer. Alex Kirilloff completed the scoring with a three-run blast in the eighth.

TEXAS 5 – Boston 3… The Rangers erased a 3-1 deficit in their final two at-bats to down the Red Sox. David Dahl and Brock Holt produced RBI singles during a three-run bottom of the eighth inning. Isiah Kiner-Falefa homered to lead off the seventh.

OAKLAND 7 – Baltimore 5… A’s centerfielder Rámon Laureano made a leaping catch against the wall in the top of the eighth inning to preserve a tie and hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning. Matt Olson also homered with a runner aboard for Oakland.

SEATTLE 2 – L.A. Angels 0… Mariners starter Justus Sheffield (2-2) allowed just two hits over six innings and four relievers did the rest in shutting out the Angels. Dylan Moore singled home a run in the bottom of the fourth inning and Mitch Hanigar lifted a sacrifice fly in the fifth to account for Seattle’s runs.

INTERLEAGUE
TORONTO 7 – Atlanta 2… Marcus Semien slugged a tie-breaking two-run double in the bottom of the third inning and added a two-run homer in the eighth as the Blue Jays completed a three-game sweep of the Braves.
