Truman Lee Coffman

Truman Lee Coffman, 74, of Oakley, KS died Sunday, April 4, 2021, in Hays, KS. He was born January 12, 1947, in Sullivan County, MO, to Willie and Bertha (Woody) Coffman. After graduating high school, Truman joined the United States Navy. He served on the USS Lexington, in the Gulf of Mexico, for four years. After leaving the Navy, Truman did construction work and started driving truck, which took him to North Platte, NE, where he met Yvette Lunkwitz-Humphrey. They decided to elope and on May 10, 1975, were married in Sallisaw, OK. They relocated to Missouri, where Truman managed a farm and then moved to Kansas, where he worked for Abercrombie Oil Service. The family took up residence, in Oakley, KS, where they lived for over 40 years. Truman was the night shift foreman at Mitten’s, in Oakley, KS for over 15 years before purchasing his own truck and starting Coffman Trucking. He retired in 2018, after 15 years of trucking. Truman enjoyed watching NASCAR and his favorite driver, Jimmy Johnson. He also enjoyed cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs and Royals. In his younger days, he coached American Legion Baseball and played co-ed softball. Truman spent his free time fishing, hunting, gardening, attending auctions and appreciating old cars. He loved any time spent with his family, especially his grandkids.

He was preceded in death by his parents; 1 brother and 3 sisters.

He’s survived by his wife Yvette, children, Truman Michael (Jennifer) Coffman, Danette (Anthony) Repshire, Kaara Coffman and Shannon Herl; grandchildren, Braylan Fields, Deagon, Deighton and Kaelynn Herl and Kasira, Corbin and Kelton Repshire; siblings, Spencer Coffman, Carol (Keith) Blecha and Jesse Coffman (Robert Ridley) and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation is 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at Baalmann Mortuary, Oakley. A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021, at Baalman Mortuary. Burial will be at 11:00 AM, Saturday April 10, 2021 at the Baker Cemetery, Southeast of Milan under the direction of Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan.
