Ray Scott

Ray Scott, 76 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.

Ray was born December 9, 1944 in Milan to Lonnie Raymond and Wanda Lucille (West) Scott. On December 15, 1968 he married Sharon Jo (Coin) Scott, she preceded him in death in 2012. Ray is survived by: a son, Tim and wife Nancy Scott of Albia, Iowa; a daughter, Carla and husband Josh Kelly of Chillicothe, Missouri; grandchildren, Hannah and husband Ruben Bueno, Macee Scott, Nick and wife Michelle Carter, Brennen Carter, Luke Reynolds, and Kenzie Reynolds; 5 great grandchildren; a brother, Melvin and wife Mary Susan Scott of Milan; a sister, Nina and husband Harold Rexroat of Unionville, Missouri; sisters-in-law, Sara Scott of Liberty, Missouri and Joyce Coin of Milan; and several nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by: his parents; wife, Sharon; a brother, Marvin Scott; and twin sister Kay Wonsettler and her husband John.

Ray grew up and lived his entire life in Sullivan County. After graduating he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Ray worked at Reed Concrete, Sullivan County Memorial Hospital in Maintenance and then worked at the Water Plant for many years. He was a member of the Milan Christian Church and the American Legion Post #228. Ray’s favorite hobby was mowing the yard and giving people a hard time. He also enjoyed talking with his grandchildren. Ray was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed by many.

Services will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Milan Christian Church. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. A visitation is scheduled for 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday evening at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan.
