Jared Michael Newman

Jared Michael Newman, 49, of Kirksville, Missouri, passed away Thursday, April 1, 2021 at his home.

Jared was born on October 8, 1971 in Ft. Bragg North Carolina to his parents Michael and Duretta (Graham) Newman. When Jared was just 23, Jared decided he wanted to join the Army and was stationed at Fort Sewart in Georgia in 1994. Jared would go on to serve in Operation Desert Fox in 1998.

After serving in Iraq, Jared spent time abroad in Germany. During his time in Germany, he completed his army commitment and traveled the country before returning to his hometown of Kirksville, MO in 2010.

After moving back to his hometown, Jared began working for his good friend Larry DeVries at DeVries Electric Company in Pella, IA. During this period, he met and fell for Hilary, who he soon married in 2017.

When he wasn’t working, Jared had a passion for poker, billiards, and bowling, but most of all he loved spending time with his family and playing with his two year old daughter, Sophia.

Jared was predeceased by his grandparents and aunt and uncle. Jared is survived by his wife, Hilary of the home; one daughter, Sophia Grace Newman of the home; his parents, Mike and Duretta Newman of Kirksville, MO; two step-sons, Travis and Ayden both of Kirksville, MO; one brother, Jason Newman and significant other, Willow Frazier of Kirksville, MO; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Jennifer and Troy Treasure of Kirksville, MO, and Jessica and James Outen of Box Elder, S.D.

Public visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to noon in the chapel of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
Graveside services with military honors will follow visitation at 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 9, 2021 at the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Jacksonville, Missouri, with Pastor Jennifer Finley presiding.
Pallbearers will be Jason Humphrey, Brian Shultz, Brennan Robbins, Michael Pinksa, Chase Wolf and James Outen.
Memorial donations in memory of Jared may be made to his mother, Duretta Newman for the care of his daughter Sophia and may be left at or mailed to Travis-Noe Funeral Home, P.O. Box 306, Kirksville, MO
