Betty Lou Prebe Miller

Betty Lou Prebe Miller, 81 of Columbia joined the heavenly chorus on March 22, 2021 at 9:42 pm after a valiant 8-year battle with lung cancer.

Public is invited to open services following Covid guidelines. at Forum Christian Church, 3900 Forum Blvd. Columbia, MO with Sr Minister Bradley Williams officiating. Visitation at 10 a.m. and services follow at 11 a.m.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Hudson-Rimer Funeral Home in Edina, MO.

Betty was born May 23, 1939 in Edina, MO to Frederick W. (Fritz) and Gladys Marie Goodwin Prebe. She graduated from Edina High School in 1957. She married David Leroy Miller, Sr. on Dec. 8, 1957 in Moberly, MO.

Betty is survived by her husband, David, Sr. Columbia, MO, her son, David Jr. Roy (Lori) of Moberly and children Wynter and Aaron (Claudia) and two precious great grands, Harrison and Brooke: one daughter, Dr. Tamara Miller-Lloyd (Lon) and their children Jordan and Jenna of North Richland Hills, TX. Betty was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Dorothy Prebe, Delores Peterson and Geraldine Brace. Betty will also be missed by numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was a home maker a farm wife and managed the retail office of Meat Makers Inc., a feed and farm supply business in Carrollton, MO. She attended Creston Community College in Creston, Iowa.

She worked at Dillard’s, Columbia Mall, Retiring after19 Years. Betty was a loyal Dillard’s sales associate gaining fame for a perfect 19-year attendance record though she commuted 40 miles each day. She enjoyed telling the story of the 20+ inch snowfall in 1993. Of the 150 employees at the Dillard’s store, she was one of only 20 who was able to make it to work and always on time. Upon her retirement, she was recognized with a cruise by Dillard’s with the unprecedented honor of Pace Setter for 15 years.

Betty loved to travel. Highlights included multiple cruises to Alaska the Caribbean. and special holidays

at Atlantis and Hawaii. Her last trip was a flight and personally guided tour by Roy and Lori to see fall foliage at Grand Marais, MN.

She loved playing board games and cards … win or lose. In recent years, she enjoyed her computer, keeping in touch with friends and family in faraway places via Facebook and her favorite computer game, Candy Crush. She will always be remembered as the spark plug for a good time at any family gathering. She loved to surprise everyone with a creative game or skit.

Her family will always have fond memories of the many bountiful feasts served up on special occasions.

Betty was a faithful member of Forum Blvd. Church and the CIA class. She also served as a board member of the Boone County Farm Bureau, a Cub and Girl Scout leader and children’s Sunday School Teacher.

The Miller family would like to acknowledge their appreciation to Betty’s doctors and Compasses Home Health Care workers for their caring service. Betty will be buried at Pleasant Prairie Cemetery in Shelby County near Bethel, MO.

Memorials in her memory are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Betty Miller Memorial for Living Waters Christian Mission – Gonaives Haiti or Show-Me Christian Youth Home, Lamont, MO.
