Ovid Earl Sharp, 78 years old, of Milan, Missouri, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Ovid was born June 4, 1942 in Milan to James and Mary Ruth (McCloud) Sharp. On March 15, 1961 he married Madeline Carrol (Wyant) Sharp, they had just celebrated their 60th Wedding anniversary, she survives him of the home. Also surviving: One son, Todd and wife Lisa Sharp of Milan; two daughters, Kym and husband Mitch Mayer of Chillicothe, Missouri, and Jamie and husband Bill Reckrodt of Pollock, Missouri; grandchildren, Matthew (Andrea) Sharp of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Nic Murphy of San Diego, CA, Sheena (Matt) Keuhn of Milan, Sasha (Brady) Pinnick of Milan, Johnathan (Jessica) Reckrodt of Kansas City, Mo, and Jeska Reckrodt of Pollock; great grandchildren, Bryson Sharp, Jeremiah (Katie) Sharp, Abby Sharp, Josiah Sharp, Ryan (Siera) Keuhn, Bri Hail, James (Jim) Hail, Raegan Keuhn, Jace (Oppy) Hail, Ry Pinnick, JoJo Pinnick, Cameron Barclay, Loxley Reckrodt; great great grandchildren, Harper Jane Sharp and Baby Keuhn; a brother, Jim and wife Donna Sharp of Milan; and several nieces and nephews.
Ovid was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Jack Sharp, a sister, Donna Ray Richardson, and a faithful dog, Batman.
Ovid was a lifelong resident of Milan, graduating from Milan High School in 1960. After graduating, Ovid worked at the Lumber Yard, the Milan Cheese Factory, then Ovid and his brother Jim owned and operated a rewinding motor shop and electrical wiring for a time. For over 30 years he worked maintenance at F.M. Stampers, Banquet Foods, and ConAgra. He last worked as a maintenance director at Sullivan County Memorial Hospital. Ovid was a past member of the Baptist Church, Bread of Life Church, and currently attended the Milan Christian Church when possible. At an early age he accepted Jesus as his Savior and loved spreading the gospel and reading the Bible to Carrol every morning. Ovid enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and going to the local sporting events, especially the ones involving his grandkids and great grandkids. He later enjoyed watching and making videos on Snapchat, Tiktok, and Youtube. Ovid most loved spending time with all of his family and friends.
A funeral service for Ovid will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 21, 2021 at Schoene-Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Milan. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery in Milan. A visitation is scheduled from 6:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday evening at the funeral home, although friends may come by the funeral home anytime after 1:00 PM on Saturday.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Sullivan County Memorial Hospital.
