Charlotte Ruth (Young) Lemley

Charlotte Ruth (Young) Lemley, 93, of LaPlata, Missouri, passed away Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Samaritan Hospital in Macon, Missouri.

Born July 27, 1927 in Washington, Iowa, Charlotte was the daughter of Elmer Roscoe and Faith Evelyn (Palmer) Young. On February 27, 1946, Charlotte was united in marriage to Carrold Gale Lemley who preceded her in death on November 30, 2008. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three sisters, three brothers, and one grandchild.

Charlotte is survived by her son, Brian Lemley of Big Stoney, S.D.; her daughter, Anglea Easley and special friend, Melvin Young of LaPlata, MO; four grandchildren, Jammie Tipton (Mike), Joseph White (Jayci), Ezra Lemley (Gina), and Heather Yocum (Chris); twelve great-grandchildren, Tyler Hagar (Savanna), Teresa Ralston (Caleb), Aidan, Brynn, and Logan White, Greyson and Charlie Lemley, and Autumn and Josiah Yocum, Shelby Pettig, Morgan Tipton, and Kaleb Tipton; seven great-great-grandchildren, John Stokes, Tanner, Bristol and Jaxon Hagar, and Angelique, Wylde, and Jasper Ralston; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

Charlotte was a graduate from West Chester High School in West Chester, Iowa, She worked for a total of thirty years as an Administrator for County Homes for the State of Iowa until retiring in 1981. She moved to Libertyville, Iowa until 2012 when Charlotte moved to LaPlata, Missouri to make her home. She loved being outdoors, camping, fishing, grilling and her biggest obsession was with the color of mauve. She also loved collecting antiques, Boyd’s Bears, Bennington Bears, porcelain dolls, and brass button bears. Charlotte loved spending time with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren.

Charlotte was a member of the Kirksville Women of the Moose and of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.

Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021 at North Wellman Cemetery in Wellman, Iowa. No public visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of the Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville, MO.

Pallbearers will be Joseph White, Mike Tipton, Ezra Lemley, Caleb Ralston, Tyler Hagar, and Mike Lemley.
