Loye Carol Jarman

Loye Carol Jarman, 87, of Unionville, MO passed away peacefully at his home on January 15, 2021. Loye was born on November 19, 1933, the son of Milo “Mike” Jarman and Neva (Butler) Jarman who preceded him in death. He graduated from Unionville High School. On June 27, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Marilyn Berry, who preceded him in death, May 18, 2017. Loye and Marilyn lived in the Quad Cities briefly after their marriage. They returned to Unionville where he worked at the Kozy Korner Gas station. Loye was then one of the last fathers in Putnam County to be drafted into the Army.

While serving our country, they were located in Washington D.C., where Loye marched in President Eisenhower’s Inaugural Parade in January of 1957. After returning home, Loye worked for several local businesses that included the Berry Gas Company, Fowler Heating and Air Conditioning, and Butler Construction Company. Then in 1979 Marilyn and Loye moved to Arizona where they lived for 37 years. Loye worked in construction several years there, then became a Maintenance Supervisor at Pima College from which he retired in 1998. In 2016 they returned to Putnam County to be closer to family.

Loye was talented and skilled in the art of woodworking and construction. He was a Jack of All Trades and could fix just about anything, even over the phone 2000 miles away. In his free time he enjoyed building projects to which his wife, Marilyn, would put the finishing touches. He also admired nature, loved horses, watching squirrels and other animals in his backyard (maybe not the cats), enjoyed going on trail rides, “and so on and so forth”.

Loye is survived by his three children, Kenneth Jarman and wife Traci of Willard, MO; Teresa Fleshman and husband Brent of Verona, MO; and Melinda Smith and husband Roger of Unionville, MO. Loye’s surviving grandchildren are Jeremy (Krysten) Jarman, Krisha Green, DeShann Rexroat, Kari (Joby) McPherson, Tabitha Jarman, Amanda Dixon, Darren (Bethy) Fleshman, Mona (Nathan) Elston, Quinten (Lauren) Fleshman, Jessica (Joao) Ferreira, Clayton (Lori) Fleshman, Michael (Makena) Fleshman, Sebastian Fleshman, Loghan Fleshman, Brianna Fleshman, Amanda Smith, Austin (Erin) Steeley, Ashley Smith, and Alaina Smith. He is also survived by 22 great grandchildren; a brother, Gary (Deloris) Jarman; a sister, Joyce Ingersoll; a brother-in-law, John Berry; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Loye Jarman will take place at Playle & Collins Family Funeral Home in Unionville at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 23, 2021, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Unionville Cemetery.
