Robert Donald Kasten, 71 years old, of Winigan, Missouri, passed away surrounded by his family on Monday, November 9, 2020 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri.
Robert was born December 10, 1948 in Joliet, Illinois to Donald and Ferne (Olson) Kasten. In Joliet on April 19, 1980 he married Alta (Hand) Kasten, she survives him of the home.
Also surviving: his children, Douglas Ritchey of Shorewood, Illinois, Jeffrey Ritchey (Nancy) of Coralville, Iowa, Donald Kasten (Lauren) of New Orleans, Louisiana, Alisa Klika of Kirksville, Missouri, and Sally Love of Shorewood, Illinois; grandchildren, Nicole and Jade Ritchey, Abigail Klika, Asha and Amore Kasten; A brother, William Kasten of Nampa, Idaho; a sister, Terry Greene of Joliet, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; a son-in-law, Matthew Klika; sisters-in-law, Charlene Hand and Mary Kasten; brothers-in-law, Carl Hand, Virgil Presswood, Arthur Hand, Patrick Shaver, Sr., and Larry Schmidt.
Robert grew up and lived in Joliet, Illinois for most of his life. He drove from age 16 to 56 for Teamsters Union Local 179 for Wartenberg Trucking and Airco Trucking. In 2006 he retired and he and his wife Alta moved to Winigan, where he was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winigan and served as Trustee for the church. Robert had been a Deacon of Grace Bible Church in Shorewood and a member of the Teamsters Union Local 179. He enjoyed working in the wood shop, and spending time with his family, who lovingly referred to him as Grampy, Papa Bob, Papa Bobo, Uncle Bob, and Bobby.
A funeral service for Robert will be held 4:00 PM, Friday, November 13, 2020 at the First Baptist Church in Winigan, Missouri. A visitation will be held one-hour prior, starting at 3:00 PM. Cremation will follow with a private inurnment held at a later date. Ruschmeier Funeral Home in Green City is handling arrangements.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Central Missouri Kidney Association or the Winigan First Baptist Church.
