MLB Scores Sunday 9-20

MIAMI 2 – Washington 1… Pinch-runner Monte Harrison scored an unearned run in the bottom of the sixth inning to give the Marlins the lead for good in the first game of a doubleheader. Sandy Alcantara (3-2) allowed a run on five hits over six innings.

Washington 15 – MIAMI 0… The Nationals belted five home runs in routing the Marlins to claim a split of the twinbill. Asdrubal Cabrera went 3-for-5 with a homer and four RBIs. Trea Turner, Kurt Suzuki, Michael Taylor and Victor Robles also went deep.

BALTIMORE 2 – Tampa Bay 1… Renato Nunez stroked a two-run single in the bottom of the first inning and the Orioles held on to edge the Rays. John Means (2-3) allowed a run on three hits and stuck out 12 in 5-2/3 innings to outduel counterpart Ryan Yarbrough (1-4) and give the Orioles a split of the twinbill.

BOSTON 10 – N.Y. Yankees 2… Michael Chavis homered twice and knocked in five runs as the Red Sox beat the Yankees for the first time in 13 tries. J.D. Martinez and Bobby Dalbec also went deep.

Cleveland 7 – DETROIT 4… Carlos Carrasco (3-4) pitched one-hit ball over seven shutout innings and fanned 11 in the Indians’ win. Jose Ramirez connected for a pair of two-run homers.

CINCINNATI 7 – Chi. White Sox 3… The Reds came up with five runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on only one hit and never looked back in their win over the White Sox. Aristides Aquino homered with a runner aboard. Mike Moustakas produced a two-run single.

Atlanta 7 – N.Y. METS 0… Braves starter Kyle Wright (2-4) limited the Mets to one hit over 6-1/3 innings and three relievers completed the shutout of the Mets. Ronald Acuna homered and knocked in four runs.

MILWAUKEE 5 – Kansas City 3… Daniel Vogelbach homered twice and drove in all five Brewers’ runs in their defeat of the Royals. Josh Lindblom (2-3) surrendered a run on three hits over 5-1/3 innings.

HOUSTON 3 – Arizona 2… Carlos Correa’s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Alex Bregman with the decisive run in the Astros’ win over the Diamondbacks. George Springer with 3-for-4 with two solo homers.

Toronto 6 – PHILADELPHIA 3… Teoscar Hernandez homered with a runner aboard and Jonathan Davis doubled home two runs as the Blue Jays salvaged the series finale.

COLORADO 6 – L.A. Dodgers 3… Josh Fuentes drove in three runs with a pair of singles and the Rockies doubled up on the Dodgers. Antonio Senzatela (5-2) surrendered a run on three hits over 6-1/3 innings.

St. Louis 2 – PITTSBURGH 1… Yadier Molina’s two-run homer in the top of the seventh inning lifted the Cardinals over the Pirates. Jack Flaherty (4-2) limited Pittsburgh to a run on two hits and struck out 11 in six innings.

San Francisco 14 – OAKLAND 2… Brandon Crawford unloaded a grand slam and the Giants got two-run homers from Chadwick Tromp and Darin Ruf in their pounding of the Athletics. Trevor Anderson (3-3) pitched four-hit ball over 5-2/3 scoreless innings.

San Diego 7 – SEATTLE 4 (11 innings)… The Padres outlasted the Mariners and clinched a playoff spot for the first time in 14 years. Mitch Moreland’s run-scoring double sparked a three-run top of the 11th inning. Wil Myers belted a three-run homer.

Texas 7 – L.A. ANGELS 2… Joey Gallo, Anderson Tejada, Sam Huff, Rougned Odor and Derek Dietrich all hit home runs as the Rangers powered their way past the Angels. Kyle Cody (1-1) allowed a run on three hits in five innings.

Minnesota 4 – CHI. CUBS 0… Jose Berrios (5-3) held the Cubs to four hits over six innings and got help from three relievers in the shutout. Max Kepler homered with a runner aboard.
