Molina, DeJong Among Positive Cardinals

St. Louis catcher Yadier Molina announced on social media Tuesday that he was one of the Cardinals to have tested positive for the coronavirus.

Molina, a nine-time All-Star, wrote, “As I recover, I request that you respect my and my family’s privacy during my absence from the team”.

The Cardinals announced Tuesday that in addition to Molina, Paul DeJongEdmundo SosaRangel RaveloJunior Fernandez and Kodi Whitley tested positive. A seventh player appears to have not given permission to the team to release his name.

MLB announced Monday that 13 members of the Cardinals organization — seven players and six staff members — had tested positive for the coronavirus in the past week, resulting in the postponement of St. Louis’ series with the Detroit Tigers.
