Anna Margaret Cowan, 88, of Unionville, MO passed away at the Putnam County Care Center on August 1st, 2020.
Anna Cowan was born on January 26, 1932 the daughter of Dewey and Helen (Wyckoff) Laughlin. Following high school, Anna married Gene Cowan on March 26, 1955, in Albia, IA, and 4 children were born to this union. Anna loved her home and this is where the family knew to gather for homemade pies from the official pie maker. Anna was a member of the Stringtown Club, The Independent Club, and the Rambling Roses Ladies Group. Anna’s gift of catering to her family and friends brought her the most joy in her life.
Anna Cowan is survived by her husband, Gene of the home; a son, Ed Cowan and wife Denise, of Unionville, MO, and a daughter, Kelly Thomas and husband, Johnny Ray, of Unionville, MO. Anna’s surviving grandchildren are Tabitha McClaran, Trisha Havens and husband Jeff, Christina Takahashi, and Phoenix Thomas. Anna is also survived by 2 great grandsons, Jaron McClaran and Chayse Havens and 3 great granddaughters, Bayli Havens, Mia Takahashi, and Madisyn Havens.
In addition to her parents, Anna was preceded in death by a daughter, Helen Joann Cowan; a son, Dewey Harold Cowan; a granddaughter, Danielle Starr Cowan; and brothers, George and John Laughlin.
A private family graveside service is planned for August 3rd, 2020, at the Unionville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the Playle and Collins Family Funeral Home of Unionville, MO.
